The shocking news came up Monday afternoon. Simona already cancelled training sessions in Indian Wells and probably she will withdraw from the tournament as well.
An awful news arrived in the peaceful tennis club of Indian Wells, where Simona Halep is getting ready for one of the most important tournaments of the season. Her cousin, Nicia Arghir, 29 years old, has been found dead in his house in Constanța, birth place of Simona. The son of Simona Halep’s aunt from the mother side, as first information stated, seems to have committed suicide hanging himself in the hallway of his house.
It seems no signs of violence or abduction have been found on Nicia’s body, bar the ones caused by hanging. Suicide is then the first plausible version of the facts, on which Romanian Police is focusing and still working right now. Furthermore, no letters or messages have been left by Halep’s cousin, as explanation of his gesture. Body has been found by an uncle, who called police and ambulance.
As stated by agentia.org, confirming prosport.ro’s words, detectives think that debts caused by betting problems have a role in what happened to the young man.
Current world number 3, semifinalist in last edition of the tournament, already cancelled her training sessions for the tournament, ready to start Wednesday. Probably, she will also withdraw from main draw and she will fly in Romania to stay with her family.
